Description
This is the third and last of a series of belt buckles I made for one of my metalworking classes. Like with the other two, I wouldn't have made it a belt buckle if I didn't have to. d=
The goal for this assignment was to explore acid etching using PNP paper, as well as different patinas. With this particular one, I used a technique called 'marriage of metals', which is sawing out and soldering two different metals to where they fit perfectly together, before etching the two. Unfortunately, because of this I was unable to get any patinas to look right on both the brass and the copper, so I fumed it in ammonia and salt, took it off to where the copper and brass would show on the surface, then did a liver of sulfur over that.
This is made from copper and brass that was acid etched, then soldered onto brass that has a hammer texture on that. The leaves also have a hammer texture.
